'BONDED'

OFFICE
HOOVER BUILDING
I watch as Scully turns her back to me and leaves my office,
taking determined purposeful strides. I have no doubt that she
will gain entry into Mulder's hospital room. Scully has been with
Mulder far too long for anyone to stop her when Mulder is hurt or
in pain, physically or emotionally. She is like an instant
sedative for him. I cannot count the times that she has lulled
him to peacefulness and sleep when no one else could even come
near. Old Smokey and his cronies were so wrong in judging her
objectivity when it came to placing Dana Scully on the X-Files.
They grossly underestimated the bond that she and Mulder would
come to share almost 7 years ago.
Feeling safe in the knowledge that she has come back to Mulder
from her time away, I dive back into work as I know there is
nothing I can do for my friends. However, after a few short
minutes, I wonder how successful she has been and decide to go
see for myself. I know they won't let me in to Mulder's room
after the fiasco with Kritschgau, but what harm can come from me
watching them from the window. I close my eyes and can almost
picture it now. Mulder, in an almost like catatonic state and
unable to speak or move, screaming silently begging for Scully to
help him. Scully is tightly gripping his hand between her own,
while fat tears roll down her cheeks and onto his face, and she
tenderly wipes them away, murmuring only words he can hear.

MULDERS HOSPITAL ROOM
GEORGETOWN MEMORIAL
Arriving at the door, the guards Agent Fowley has posted stop my
entrance and I tell them I am not going in and just want to watch
from the window. Just as I suspected, Scully is gripping Mulder's
hand, pleading with him to hang on as she slowly places her lips
against his forehead. If I didn't care for them both so much as
friends, I would almost love to have Scully for myself, but those
two belong together. Even I can see that fate had intervened when
she was placed with him to debunk the X-Files cases. I smile
slightly as I turn away from the door, knowing that Scully will
be the best medicine for Mulder. I know that she is so determined
to bring his beautiful mind back to her that nothing will stand
in her way, not even Old Smokey.
